Temporary Work
I got a call today from Smithgroup - where I worked last summer - and they want me to come in and work for for them for about a week and a half. Apparently they need help on a project that is a little behind. Of course I am hoping that it will turn into more than a week and a half, but we’ll see what happens. Worst case scenario is that I get some work. Not bad.

We were burgled.
On Monday morning, we came home from looking for new church shoes for Anne at the mall. When we got in the house, we noticed that there were two of our bags (a backpack and a clothing bag) out on the lawn by the back fence. I wondered why our bags were out on the lawn and my first thought was that Anne had drug the bags out there. Then I noticed that the back sliding door was wide open and we both...

“Past research has shown that the body emits visible light, 1,000 times less intense than the levels to which our naked eyes are sensitive. In fact, virtually all living creatures emit very weak light, which is thought to be a byproduct of biochemical reactions involving free radicals. “

“What is the Big Book of Everything? In a nutshell, it is a notebook filled with all of the information anyone could possibly need to know about you. The idea is that in our lives we have countless things that we are involved in. On rare occasions, other people need this information and no one knows how to get it. That’s where the Big Book comes in. By filling this out and keep...

Senate Votes to Eliminate Money for Additional... →
“The Senate voted 58-40 on Tuesday to strip $1.75 billion for seven more F-22 fighters from a military authorization bill, handing President Obama a crucial victory in his efforts to reshape the military’s priorities.” I think this is a good move. We need to cut spending wherever we can, and fiscal conservatism applies to military spending too. Especially when our largest threat is no...

A Prescription for the Goose… - WSJ.com →
“Yesterday [Sen. Coburn] successfully pressed the Senate Health Committee to approve his idea of requiring Members of Congress themselves to enroll in whatever “public plan” is passed to compete with private insurance companies. This is a brilliant maneuver, and when they inevitably try to strip it from the bill, the public should demand accountability.
