Thesis project done!
I presented my thesis project yesterday. The review went pretty well. They had a lot of suggestions of ways that I could continue to improve the design. And we had an interesting discussion on the effectiveness and role of parametric design tools.
I am happy that it is over and I can get some sleep and see my family again. At the same time, it is kind of sad that this is my last project, because I have really enjoyed school overall.
I included a link to my layout. Essentialy my project was proposing that architectural form should be defined by the movement of the people that inhabit the building, as opposed to the current situation where a person’s movement is restricted by a building. The program is a Montessori school or kids aged 3-12.
I was also intersted in using Parametric modeling software not only as a modeling tool, which is the normal use, but also for analysing movement patterns in existing school in order to come up with a more ideal situation.
