Mumbai photographer: I wish I'd had a gun, not a camera. Armed police would not fire back
Although our police are much better here in the U.S., situations like this show the ineffecacy of gun control laws in reducing crime and terrorism. India has strict gun control laws:
“The mid to late 1980s, when the Government, citing domestic insurgency as the reason, put a complete stop to all small arms imports. The fact that there is no documented evidence of any terrorists ever having used licensed weapons to commit an act of terror on Indian soil seems to be of no consequence to our Government.” - source
So they are not allowed to own firearms to defend themselves, and are left to depend on a corrupt police force. We see how that worked out.
