Central Provision of Health Care Law Is Ruled Unconstitutional - NYTimes.com
“In a 42-page opinion, Judge Hudson wrote: “Neither the Supreme Court nor any federal circuit court of appeals has extended Commerce Clause powers to compel an individual to involuntarily enter the stream of commerce by purchasing a commodity in the private market.” Allowing Congress to exert such authority, he said, “would invite unbridled exercise of federal police powers.””
Makes sense to me.
Jonathan Richards: The First Illegal Immigrants
I realize they are attempting to point out hypocrisy on the part of white Americans with regards to illegal aliens. But one could argue that the experience of American Indians seems to be clear evidence of what can go wrong when you are overrun with ‘illegals’.

United States v. Arizona -- How 'Bout United States v. Rhode Island? - Andy McCarthy - The Corner on National Review Online
“If, as President Obama and Attorney General Holder claim, there is a federal preemption issue, why hasn’t the administration sued Rhode Island already? After all, Rhode Island is actually enforcing these procedures, while the Arizona law hasn’t even gone into effect yet.”

Op-Ed Columnist - Moonshine or the Kids? - NYTimes.com
“There’s an ugly secret of global poverty, one rarely acknowledged by aid groups or U.N. reports. It’s a blunt truth that is politically incorrect, heartbreaking, frustrating and ubiquitous: It’s that if the poorest families spent as much money educating their children as they do on wine, cigarettes and prostitutes, their children’s prospects would be transformed. Much suffering is caused not only by low incomes, but also by shortsighted private spending decisions by heads of households.”

GM's phony loan repayment | Video Cafe
“General Motors has been running ads on all the major networks claiming the company repaid its $6.7 billion U.S. government loan “with interest five years ahead of the original schedule.” General Motors Company CEO Ed Whitacre can be seen in the ad walking through an auto plant as he touts the company’s progress. But lawmakers, and even the inspector general for the bailout fund GM borrowed from, point out that General Motors only repaid the bailout money by dipping into a separate pot of bailout money. They say the company did not actually use its own earnings to make the early payment and are questioning why executives are making such a big deal out of it.”
